Unlock the demand-side flexibility potential through a consumer-centric EU Electricity Market Design
With the upcoming revision of the Electricity Market Design (EMD) slated for March this year, T&D Europe has co-signed with 11 European associations a joint letter to urge Commissioner Kadri Simson to take into consideration seven key recommendations to unlock the demand-side flexibility potential in this reform.
The EMD recast offers a vital opportunity to address concerns linked to the current energy crisis, security of supply and resilience, while continuing to support the green transition with consumers taking an active role as providers of flexibility.
Thanks to a wide set of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), including demand management, energy storage, electric vehicles and distributed energy efficient and renewable generation, all consumers can become providers of flexibility. As the electricity system transforms, they will become essential actors in an efficient, digitally-enabled, interoperable and renewables-based power system.
