Flexibility from a technology provider perspective

As the integration of renewable energy sources accelerates alongside the electrification of transportation and heating sectors, the necessity for a flexible, responsive, and resilient grid becomes paramount.  This position paper, presented by T&D Europe, delves into the transformative impact of grid flexibility within the evolving energy landscape.

This paper outlines the critical role of digitalisation and smartening of the grid as key elements to unlock the necessary flexibility to meet our decarbonisation targets and highlights the importance of collaborative efforts across sectors and member states to enhance grid performance and reliability, urging policymakers to consider a harmonised approach when implementing existing European legislation across Member States.

By exploring six key policy recommendations, the paper aims to support the seamless and inclusive use of grid flexibility, thereby unlocking the full potential of renewable resources and securing the future of a European low-carbon electricity system.
