Welcoming the European Commission’s Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Act

On 26 February, the European Commission launched the Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Act.

T&D welcomes these initiatives that represent an important step toward decarbonisation, industrial competitiveness, and economic resilience in Europe.

The Clean Industrial Deal focuses on reducing emissions and strengthening Europe’s energy-intensive industries and clean tech sectors. The Action Plan for Affordable Energy aims to lower energy costs and accelerate the deployment of clean energy, supported by targeted schemes for key industries.

T&D Europe is committed to engaging with these initiatives and contributing to their implementation, including:

  • The EIB’s Grid Manufacturing Package to support the transmission and distribution sector.
  • Financing opportunities for grid expansion, modernisation, and digitalisation.
  • Sustainability, circularity, and resilience.
  • The European Grid Package to improve distribution grid planning and digitalisation.

Collaboration will be essential to fostering innovation, advancing the clean energy transition, and strengthening Europe’s industrial future. T&D Europe looks forward to working with stakeholders to achieve these goals.

Following the publication, Diederik Peereboom, Secretary General of T&D Europe stated: “There is no transition without transmission and without distribution it is an illusion, but with a strong European clean grid tech industry we can make it a reality.”
