On the 30th of September 11 senior representatives of T&D Europe’s members met with EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson to convey the importance of investments in Europe’s electricity networks.
Due to the applicable COVID measures, the dialogue took place as a hybrid meeting. T&D Europe stressed the importance of faster deployment of available network technologies, supportive remuneration schemes and of a strong, consistent political support for more, focused grid investments to support Europe’s climate ambitions.
The Commissioner is aware of the need for investments and is doing its part in the form of policy proposals and funding mechanisms, although the main share of funding needs to come from private and national capital.
The participating senior executives welcomed this exchange and expressed an interest in being involved in the follow up.
