Ahead of the Energy Council meeting on 30 May 2024, T&D Europe, CurrENT Europe, ESMIG, and smartEn urged Minister Van der Straeten to advocate for the inclusion of Smart Grid Indicators (SGIs) in the conclusions of the Energy Council meeting.
These indicators are crucial for monitoring and guiding investments in the modernisation and efficiency of the EU’s electricity infrastructure, as required by Article 59 (1) (l) of the EU Electricity Directive (2019/944). The letter highlights the need for continuous structured monitoring and active stakeholder involvement to meet the EU’s climate and energy targets, calling for the accelerated development and implementation of SGIs across the EU.
