Interview shares T&D perspective on challenges for Europe’s grids

T&D Europe’s Secretary General, Diederik Peereboom, spoke with The Gazette EU to share the perspective of Europe’s electricity transmission and distribution equipment manufacturers on challenges for Europe’s grids.

As Europe aims to double its rate of electrification by 2040, energy policy has officially become core industrial and security strategy. Yet, clean-tech technology providers face massive supply chain pressures, technical fragmentation, and critical raw material bottlenecks. The article takes a dive into how Brussels must approach the value chain to protect Europe’s industrial technology base.

The key message? Grid policy goes hand in hand with industrial and security policy. Europe’s electrification ambitions need to be matched by the manufacturing, software, supply-chain and skills capacity required to deliver them, with better coordination across the entire electricity ecosystem!
