T&D Europe, together with 20 other organisations, call on the European Commission to include enabling technologies in the EU Taxonomy.
The letter to the Commission and EU Member States argue that technologies provided by the signatories have a role to play and should rightly be recognised in the EU Taxonomy as a key enabler of both environmental protection and climate change mitigation. To ensure that the necessary investments occur over the next decades, we must give clear recognition to the crucial contribution of our technologies.
T&D Europe’s Secretary General, Diederik Peereboom stated: ”T&D Europe fully supports the acceleration of the clean energy transition. Installing more renewable energy needs to be accompanied by adequate investments in Europe’s electricity networks. The EU Taxonomy plays an important role in directing finance to the industry that manufacturers the equipment and solutions for future-proofing the electrical grid. It is therefore important that the Commission includes the T&D sector in the EU Taxonomy.”
T&D Europe is working on more detailed screening criteria for inclusion in the EU Taxonomy.
