Bilbao Manifesto calls for recognition of the importance of Europe’s clean electricity technology sector

Today, on 19 November, T&D Europe and a broad coalition representing Europe’s clean electricity technology supply chain unveiled the Bilbao Manifesto, a joint clean electricity industry initiative set to boost clean electricity, industry policy, competitiveness, and supply chains across Europe.

T&D Europe President, Jochen Kreusel, presented the Manifesto as part of the Made in Europe – Made for Europe Hub Session at the Enlit Europe 2025 conference in Bilbao, Spain.

The Bilbao Manifesto outlines a comprehensive strategy to enhance the resilience and sustainability of Europe’s electricity infrastructure, promote innovation in industrial policies, and strengthen the competitiveness of European supply chains. This initiative is a testament to Europe’s clean electricity technology sector’s commitment to driving progress and fostering collaboration in the energy sector.

Key highlights of the Bilbao Manifesto include:

  • A Sense of Urgency: Emphasising the importance of the expansion and upgrade of Europe’s clean electricity system to enable the integration of renewable energy sources and smart grid technologies to ensure a reliable, sustainable and affordable electricity supply.
  • Innovative Industry Policies: Advocating for policies that support technological advancements and the integration of digital solutions in the industrial sector.
  • Competitive Supply Chains: Proposing measures to enhance the efficiency and resilience of Europe’s supply chains.

Following today’s presentation, the Bilbao Manifesto will be brought to senior EU policymakers in Brussels to convey the joint message from one of Europe’s most strategic supply chains.
