What can grid technologies achieve and why do we use them? T&D Europe experts publish new papers on how to better integrate distributed energy resources into the electricity system and on the benefits of monitoring and controlling the medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) network.
Integrating distributed energy sources (DER) into the European electricity network is essential to reach ambitious climate and energy objectives. The paper presents the challenges for managing DER and the existing technology solutions. The paper makes a number of technical, policy, commercial and societal recommendations for optimising the use of clean energy.
Monitoring and control technologies for MV and LV electricity networks have a tangible positive impact on decarbonisation, quality of service and financial efficiency. The paper discussed the importance of monitoring and control, the state-of-the-art technologies and the benefits of automation. Retrofitting existing installations will be more and more important to ensure Europe’s has a future-proof transmission and distribution grids.
The two papers are available for download in the publication section.
